Middle School Kids Fighting Off Campus Generates 911 Calls, More Than a Few Knox Sheriff Officers

August 16, 2022 a week ago yesterday, around 4 pm, there were several (more than three) Knox Sheriff units between the Buddy’s BBQ and the Taco Bell in Farragut.

From the review of four 911 calls, it is reported that a couple Farragut Middle School boys got into a fight. Enough of an issue the students (about 20) according to the first of four 911 calls were made to leave the BBQ restaurant.

Another 911 call was a lady in a nearby business concerned about the group of kids gathering in front of her business appearing to be a fight.

A call reported that some of the kids may have knives. According to a KCSO source no weapons were located.

The longest call was the father of the alleged victim. The one that allegedly got hit. The father pursued the alleged assailant. The alleged assailant got into a BMW, in the Mortgage Investments Group parking lot.

The father informed the BMW driver to stop, he had the police on the way, the alleged assailant then moved to a Kia Niro, the father gave a description and license plate of the Kia and that it was headed toward the Taco Bell.

The most interesting part of the 911 call to me was when the 911 operator asked if they could be on drugs or if drugs could be involved. The dad said they are 13 years old, I felt bad that Dad is that unaware.

I requested the incident report from KCSO, Lt. Heather Reyda of KCSO Public Information Office denied my request for the report stating everyone is juveniles so the report was classified Confidential.

KCSO always redacts confidential information in reports, why the PIO office couldn’t simply redact the names and identifying information was the immediate question in my mind. Maybe it is too much work for a bureaucrat, I reckon.
