Knox County Sheriff’s Office Set to Hire 18 year old Corrections Officers

The Knox County Sheriff’s Department Merit System Board of Directors approved on a 4-3 vote to ask the Knox County Commission to allow Knox County Sheriff to hire 18 year olds to be correction officers. They currently have 18 year old employees in Commissary and Property. The age was dropped to 19 a couple years ago. They still have 93 vacancies.

Knox County Commission tonight voted 7 in favor (Ward, Schoonmaker, Hill, Lee, Beeler, Daily and seat 10) 1 Commissioner voted no (Oster) 3 Commissioners passed (Durrett, Frazier and Lundy)
