Knox County School Board Hold Line on Public Input

The Knox County School Board on Thursday evening were up to excluding signing up for public forum prior to the meetings. Thanks to Board Members Dr. John Butler, Betsy Henderson, Jennifer Owen, Katherine Bike and Daniel Watson for supporting the public’s ability to sign up for public forum prior to the meetings.

In the policy, you would need to sign up by Friday close of business and while the agenda is suppose to be published on Wednesday prior to the meeting. Board Member Owen pointed out a review from the last six months, it has not been published until Thursday.

The new policy was passed, with lines 16, 17 and 18 (maybe 15) being sent back to policy review. Apparently the Schools Security (who I am told are not legitimately recognized law enforcement security) has concerns with the limited size of the Summer Place board room, thus the end to squelch signing up just prior to the meeting. Is this where, I spike the ball that I blogged that Knox County should not have sold the Andrew Johnson Building to relocate to leased space from the Federal Government? Is this where I ask how that hotel and mixed use development is progressing on the Andrew Johnson Building? Oh Okay, I will move on nothing else to see here.
