Is Knox County School Board Giving Up It’s Job & Avoiding the Clear Intent of State Law?

This evening the Knox County School Board is voting to change Board Policy on Administrative and Supervisory Positions Qualifications.

If a majority of the board approves the change, they will strike out where the board approves the position, then the Director fills the position.

The change empowers the Director/Superintendent to fill the position with a broad discretion that he follows state law.

The way it is written, it surprises some that the policy is not retroactive. Makes me wonder, if this is a policy in response to Dr. Jon Rysewyk reorganization of Central Office. There are a-lot of new, younger faces that Dr. Rysewyk relies on during board meetings.
