Confusion Abounds on Knox Schools and Farragut

Today Knox Schools will hear what plans await the $4.9 million land purchase in the Town of Farragut.

Less than 15 months ago (July 27, 2022) it was about an Elementary School from the presentation made to the Board below.

Additionally, a presentation from 2015 that was completed after a MIDDLE SCHOOL NEEDS STUDY was done for the whole county. Below is page 5, which shows an expected DECREASE in the middle school population of Farragut. The presentation demonstrated that realignment of school zones would be better way to address growth than just “willy-nilly” building schools. The study was PRIOR to building Gibbs Middle and Hardin Valley middle!

The Knox Schools population is SMALLER overall than it was prior to COVID, which means all the newer re-locators are home schooling or seeking private schools or are empty nesters. So, building more middle schools makes very little sense to many regular folk.

The question has to remain, who wants the current Farragut Primary School building or what use does KCS have for it?
