August 5, 2024 Republican Primary – Filing Deadline is NOON Today – Status of Bonafide?

Today (Thursday April 4, 2024) at NOON is the filing deadline for Republican, Democrat and Independents to file qualifying petitions with the county election commissions to be on the Primary August 5, 2024 ballots and then advance to the General November 5, 2024 Election ballots.

The Tennessee Republican Party has bonafide requirements, one is that a candidate needs to have voted in 3 out of 4 of the last Federal and State Republican Primaries. Those primaries would be March 5 2024, August 4, 2022, August 6, 2020, and March 3, 2020.

There was much ado about one challenge (mid December 2023 all the way through the March 5, 2024 Republican Primary) because when my haters go, they go down loe, I do the homework and do the job that is expected of and by myself as the Sixth District State Executive Committeeman. So when my haters go loe down, I stay on the high road.

As candidates pull petitions, I obtain the voter histories of the prospective candidates. In March 5, 2024 I knew who were bonafide and who were not. The state party assumes all are bonafide until 5 bonafide Republicans in a district file a complaint/challenge.

Since my haters go loe, I am staying on the high road and will let you know the current candidates. If someone is an elected Republican they are considered bonafide.

U.S. House of Representatives, District 2 Congressman Tim Burchett is bonafide and currently has no Republican challenger.

TN State Senate District 6, Senator Becky Duncan Massey is bonafide and has one Republican challenger Monica Madewell Irvine. She qualifies as she is a 3 out of the last 4 primaries (she missed the August 4, 2022 primary)

TN State House District 14, State Representative Jason Zachary is bonafide. No Republican challenger at this posting.

TN State House District 15, a Democrat currently holds this position. Republican Justin Hirst (who lost the March 5, 2024 Republican Knox County Commission District One primary by 5 votes) is a two of the last four Republican voter. Having voted in the March 5, 2024 and August 4, 2022 (he did not vote in the August 2020 or March 3, 2020 Republican primaries. He has cast 4 Democrat primary ballots (August 1992, February 2004, August 2004 and March 1, 2016) It would take 5 bonafide Republicans in TN State House District 15 to challenge Hirst. I do not envision that happening.

TN State House District 16, State Representative Michele Carringer is bonafide and no Republican challenger at this posting.

TN State House District 18, State Representative Elaine Davis is bonafide and has a potential Republican challenger Elliott Schuchardt. Schuchardt is a three of the last four Republican primaries (having missed the August 2022 primary. In August 2018 he did vote in the Democrat primary.

TN State House District 19, State Representative Dave Wright is bonafide and has no potential Republican challenger at this posting.

TN State House 89 State Representative Justin Lafferty is bonafide and has no potential Republican challenger at this posting.

TN State House 90 a Democrat currently holds this position. No potential Republican challenger has surfaced at this posting.

Also filing deadline for Town of Farragut Municipal Election is at Noon. I have the voting records of all potential candidates. While the elections are not partisan. I will report the voting activity of the candidates at a later date.

The filing deadline for TN Democrat Party State Executive Committeeman District 5 and Democrat State Executive Committeewoman District 7 to fill the remaining terms (two years) as the former Committee folk have moved out of their districts. I will report the candidates activity in the future.
