Ftn. City Professional and Business Association Meeting this Past Wednesday

This past Wednesday, the Ftn City Professional and Business Association met and the candidates for County Commission and School Board in Knox Counties District Two were present.

First the KPD Sargent in charge of North Knoxville talked about any criminal activity going on in North Knox which currently is low. She gave her email address for the businesses present.

Then John Fugate spoke for about 10 minutes, he identified his Treasurer and his wife. I was tempted to ask his Treasurer about all those Shopper and Focus ads that haven’t been listed as paid for or obligations. Fugate discussed a future Justice Center, I suspect he meant the Safety Center which Sheriff Jimmy J.J. Jones has discussed. But, maybe Fugate wants to build another jail. I didn’t have a chance to stay for a follow-up discussion.

Then Second District School Board Candidate Grant Standefer spoke and he again was very impressive in his approach to education issues. Again he reiterated his experience at being a consensus builder and a collaborator and desiring to bring those skills to the School Board. Other School Board candidate Jennifer Owen was a no show.

Of course, during questions, Sandra Clark, the Editor and employee of the Knoxville News Sentinel owned Shopper asked Fugate where his opponent was. Fugate said they had gotten a email that she had another obligation. In fact, when the meeting started, I texted Michele Carringer and she immediately responded, she had a personal injury and was able to get into a doctors office otherwise she would have been there. Nice caring touch there Sandra Clark! I am sure you have never had to make a doctors appointment during your Knoxville News Sentinel work hours.
