Is Thomas Out of the Gate Violating a Knox Co Zoning Regulation?

At large Commissioner Bob Thomas votes on zoning ordinances and regulations. You would think he would not knowingly violate one for his own interest. Well, Sunday I began getting calls of two signs being placed out in North Knoxville. One is compliant with Knox County Zoning Regulation 3.90.02 (F) and the other not.

The free lunch sign is compliant, The sign on the left is in violation of Knox Co Zoning Regulation 3.90.02 (F)

The sign on the right about live music on Wednesday May 11 at Powell Auction is compliant. The one on the right is NOT. You see the 2018 primary will be either May 1 or May 8, 2018. The zoning regulations say political signs may not be placed more than thirty days and shall be removed within 5 days of the election. It doesn’t address early voting period.

You can call Dwight Van de Vate at Knox Co Enginerring and Public Works (Van de Vate is a former Knox Co sign inspector)  to complain at 865-215-5800 or you can do a public service and take the signs down and let Commissioner Thomas know where the signs were and you removed them as a public service. I recall Mr. Herb Monceir doing a similar thing in 1998. As a matter of fact, I likely have the letter Mr. Monceir sent to the candidates informing them where their signs were not in complaince and that he pulled them .
