R Larry Smith Choses to Oppose Ivan Harmon for Commission at Large Seat 11

Former Seventh District Knox County Commissioner R Larry Smith this morning announced for the 2018 Knox County Commission at Large Seat 11. The seat currently held by Commissioner Ed Brantley.

Sources for months have indicated long serving public servant Ivan Harmon has been planning a run for Seat 11. When contacted this morning by phone, he said he is currently out of town but seemed inclined to be favoring Seat 11.

Justin Biggs a young community activist who also is the Delinquient Tax Collection Administrator for the Knox County Trustee has been making the Republican Club circuit and announced at a recent Powell Republican Club that he will run for County Commission at Large Seat 10. A position held by Commissioner Bob Thomas. Thomas has announced his candidacy for Knox County Mayor in 2018.

    This does not come as a surprise. Running is a long way off from winning. My votes with Harmon, past experiences of Smith just isn’t worth the chance.
