School Board Chair Professes the Job is Too Hard, Already!

On Tuesday morning the Knox County School Board Chair was participating in a radio interview on the Ed&Bob Show on WNOX FM 100.3. The topic concerned the school security investigation. Either Ed or Bob asked her why the Superintendent did not supply the board with the full report on the investigation. Karen Carson, the Chair said, we are already inundated with massive amounts of material. Do what?

Many people came up to me at last nights State of the Schools address and said did you hear Ed&Bob today? They asked do you feel you were inundated with material when you served. I said that I had listened to the interview and when I served on the board, not only did I read everything I received, many times I requested additional information.

In the Knox County Charter, being a School Boarder pays the same salary and benefits as a Knox County Commissioner. If elected it is a four year obligation. If Carson or any of her colleagues are inundated and unable to commit to the job that the voters elected them to do, they should resign and let someone that takes the obligation serious and remains committed to doing it right.

After all it’s for the kids, they said.

Isn’t Kincannon the chair now, and Carson vice chair?

Although with their revolving door when it comes to leadership, it’s always confusing. And there is really no difference between Kincannon and Carson.

I heard it too, and I thought, “you’re kidding?”

You mean they shirk homework and can getaway with it? Great examples for the kids.

I thought it pointed out something worse than not doing their job. I think it’s just an excuse.

The issue in my mind is what did they know, and when did they know it.

And considering how close the chair and vice chair have been to McIntyre and Central Office staff, did certain BOE members receive word of problems, and were the Sunshine laws violated in doing so?
