Ole Fashioned REPUBLICAN Picnic

Today was ole fashioned REPUBLICAN politicing at Fountain City Park. Many candidates and officeholders were present. County Commissioner Dr. Richard Briggs who is an announced candidate to oppose State Senator Stacey Campfield was a no show. He had signs and a table with a couple of people standing there. But no candidate. On the other hand, State Senator Stacey Campfield was there actvely campaigning and was warmly received.

Local artist The Chillbillies performed, Knox County Juvenile Judge Tim Irwin is a member of the group.

Knox County District Attorney General Candidate Charme Knight had a table, tent and lots of cool swag. Knight had the best crew of dedicated volunteers. They represented her well.

Overall, a GREAT event, over 400 people attended and the talk of the picnic was the upcoming appointment of an Interim Trustee and possible vacancy of a County Commission seat.

Also, word has begun circulating that another office holder may be out as part of the investigation and cooperation of the former Trustee and former Trustee’s Delinquent Tax Attorney. No confirmation, but the one officeholder mentioned is the one that has assessor in their title.

UPDATE: I received an email from the recently censured former Knox County Delinquent Tax Attorney that read in part,

“Whatever ‘word’ you hear is absolutely wrong. I have never been contacted about providing any cooperation or information in connection with any other investigation.

I have some knowledge concerning John Duncan III’s involvement in other investigations. I will keep those confidential”
