Questions Continue to Accumulate Around Property Assessor Ballard

This story from today’s Big Metal Shed on the Hill will continue to mount questions on the Knox County Property Assessors Office. The current Assessor, Phil Ballard has been the most controversial Assessor in the history of the Knox County Property Assessor.

How can Anderson County (which borders the highest assessed property in Knox County) have double digit declines in property value while Ballard has led Knox County’s recent reassessment in a manner that did not see a drastic decline but a spike in areas that border Anderson County? Both the Hardin Valley and Powell communities saw increases in property values in Knox County. But Anderson County in the same period has massive declines.

Ballard has some explaining to do.

Be reminded that Ballard was a 2007 Black Wednesday Commissioner that was convicted of violating the Open Meeting Law. In addition, his office has been a layover landing for political folk. Craig Leuthold and the Knox County Republican Party Chairs child. Ballard continues to create controversy with each passing day. When is it enough?
