More 2023 City of Knoxville Election Campaign Finances

City Councilwoman Amelia Parker and Council candidate Cameron Brooks have filed late campaign financial disclosures.

Parker’s has no questionable transactions, she had $1,158.63, received $13,765.67, spent $8,460.04 with $6,464.26 on hand.

Brooks had $36,493.83, received $8,766, spent $11, 888.50 with $33,371.33 on hand and a $11,600 loan. Brooks has a PAC (Political Action Committee) contribution, former Knox Democrat Chair and failed Knox County Mayoral candidate Linda Haney mad a contribution.

On April 3 and June 11 Brooks disclosed two “contributions” of $300 ($600) to Knox County Democrat Party for ”office rental” at 311 Morgan Street. The building at 311 Morgan Street is rather large and is in close proximity to the now under construction multi use Tennessee Smokies baseball stadium. In fact, I believe and will stand for correction, that 311 Morgan Street sits in the special tax district. Even if the space is the equivalent of a pay phone booth in the old city, $300 is well below the market value of office space in the downtown commercial rental market.

So, the question, is the Knox Democrat Party making an in kind contribution to a candidate that is opposing endorsed Councilwoman Lynne Fugate of Mayor Indya Kincannon and former Mayor Madeline Rogero? How is this different than the failed Republican slate two years ago, other than its a different partisan party? Instead of a slate of five, it is a candidate of one.
