Shock And Awe Reported School Security Deficiencies 9 Months Ago!

Dale Smith the head of the PBA (Public Building Authority) has informed the School Board that they were aware of the deficiencies of the Hardin Valley Academy security system in 2008. In the fall of 2011, the Knox County Commission asked Knox County’s Internal Auditor Richard Walls to audit the PBA’s involvement as the Project Manager. Knoxville based Merit Construction was the Construction Manager, Knoxville based Lewis Group was the Architect on the project.

Shock And Awe asked “if the security systems at Hardin Valley and Powell Middle were deficient on March 13, 2012” at the audit committee release meeting on March 13, 2012 and Richard Walls confirmed to Shock And Awe and all in attendance at audit committee meeting which included Commissioners Ed Shouse, David Wright and Jeff Ownby that YES, they were deficient. That was 9 months ago!
