Odds Favor Knox County Council PTA will Discipline Northwest PTA President for Speaking Out!

This Jamie Satterfield story (contributed by Lydia McCoy) in the product produced by the Big Metal Shed on the Hill will surely cause some friction among the Knox County Council PTA. Hopefully, Jennifer Nagel the President of the Northwest Middle School received a vote by her PTA organization or PTA board to speak negatively about the school district and the security. If she did not the Knox County Council will attempt to discipline her for giving her own opinion and portraying it as the organizations opinion. The county council has disciplined volunteers for similar actions in the past. Just read the statement by the current county council President as attributed in today’s story. “We are proponents of the school system and the county paying to keep our kids safe and keep our kids educated.” The article stated that the county council President “was upset local PTA’s..” So, the fight continues. Cue the 1970’s tune Harper Valley PTA. Never fear Mrs. Nagel, a vote of your PTA to create a PTSO will allow you and your organization to operate in the manner best deemed by your organization and will allow you to keep all your money at Northwest. When you become a PTSO, you no longer have to send any dollars to the local, state or national offices.

I was just listening to this mornings broadcast on WNOX and heard what you said about me so I looked you up and this particular post about me. Thank you for your support on me speaking out. At this time I have not heard from anyone from the county PTA but I am still waiting for something to happen. Yes, I represent Knox County PTA but more importantly, I am a parent and I will do whatever I can to make sure my child is as safe as he can be! Bring it on! 😉
