Area Republicans Lose Consistent & Dedicated Assistant

Local East Tennessee Republicans have become accustomed to a consistent face, a consistent voice and a constant help. But that help is no longer centrally located. That consistency was/is Suzanne Dewar, Former Office Manager of the Knox County Republican Party headquarters since 2004.

Dewar first became Office Manager for the George W. Bush reelection campaign in 2004. She then worked with the former Republican Chairman, I was selected as Chairman 2005-2007, Dewar continued with Former Chair Irene McCrary in 2007-2009, Dewar continued with Former Chairman Ray Jenkins in 2009-2011 and 2011 until October 2012 and then with immediate Past Chair Phyllis Severance from October 2012-February 2013.

On Monday February 4, 2013 after the Saturday February 2 Knox County Republican Party re-organzation. When Ruth Kuhlman appeared at the office, he reorganization of the operation of the office did not appear to include Dewar. Kuhlman had decided to create a romper room area for her grandchildren where Dewar has worked assisting East Tennessee Republicans. Dewar along with some friends then moved her things out.

A source that attended the West Knox Republican Club meeting said that Dewar made a very gracious statement that reemphasized her assistance to the party and that if she could be of any assistance, she would be available. Apparently not at the headquarters, however.

On Saturday February 2 Dewar and former Volunteer Jo Catlett for their 8 years of volunteer service. The thanks or lack thereof she received from the recently elected Republican Chair doesn’t speak for the hundreds and thousands of East Tennessee Republicans that have appreciated her dedication to the cause.

Kuhlman has previously refused comment to Shock And Awe as far back as August 23, 2012. Here is the post, where she said “I am not ready to talk to you about this.” I have not attempted to contact her for comment, because when she is ready to talk the ball is in her court to engage that conversation.

Suzanne, Thank You for Your Service!
