Property Assessor Launches New Online Tool, Fails to Announce It

I received a couple of contacts today from sources asking if I was aware that the Property Assessor had posted this new online tool. The link provides information of the rooms and sizes of each home and the current appraised value of each parcel of property in Knox County.

Many people are finding errors in the information. It fails to provide the correct number of bedrooms or bathrooms or both. Should you find errors, you are encouraged to contact the Property Assessors Office at 865-215-2360 and request a correction of the erroneous information. After all it is your home value.

A few interesting questions are. why did this new online tool have to be discovered and not revealed by the office of the Property Assessor? Why has the elected Property Assessor withheld the announcement of this new tool? Why does the Property Assessor continue keeping the taxpayers in the dark? Again, this is another example of the office failing to be open and transparent. Sources in the City County Building indicate that this online search tool been operational for 30-60 days. Secrecy is the mode of operation of the Property Assessor.

New tools at the property assessors office, oh brother this is classic. Butter and Egg man have you heard of a tape measurer and a pair a good prescription glasses. Those are the only physical tools needed to get the job done, outside of common sense. The reason Butter Man keeps people in the dark is the light bulb was never lit in the first place. This office reminds me of my first car the Ford Edsel ahead of it’s time and a failure, good grief sister Agnes, does he think he is going to pass this off again as a true and transparent assessment. I have a better chance of winning the lottery without purchasing a ticket than to not get the shaft from the Butter and Egg man. This office should be called LaBallard Academy for the politically connected. Hire a driver and fill up the short bus with all the politicians children and head out for a field trip into the real world. It is obvious that the job isn’t getting done correctly, might as well save on gas, as the short bus takes less fuel than the county Ford Explorer’s. I have made up my mind that I am going to run for this office, I even have my own catchy slogan “Elmer on the ticket… not on the county tit” Think I will put it on red signs, as the Better and Egg man sees red every time I comment. I would like to see Mayor Tim read the documentation carefully on Paula’s departure from this office. Was she terminated for lack of work? Was she terminated for inappropriate conduct? Or did she just resign? If the first of the three reasons is the answer looks like we need to just close the office and go home. A salary of $70,000.00 and terminated for lack of work? I am sure she laughs every week for 99 weeks as she deposits the check in the bank.

The tax assessor and the tax collector are both dim bulbs in the courthouse crowd in m opinion.

This fiefdom and the Duncan fiefdom in the tax collector’s office both should be stripped down, consolidated, and combined with the City of Knoxville property tax office to create greater efficiency and get rid of these bouguss salaries, these overstated roles of importance in the courthouse and in the community (these bafffoons are not that important, the offices should run themselves) and move on to something more beneficial to our community.

Paid my taxes in person in February on the day they were due, Duncan has removed the “III” from all official markings such that now he goes by “John Duncan” simple as that.
