In yesterday’s Mike Donila’s story about Mayor Burchett and next years budget. Commissioner Robert Lawrence Smith says his priority is to give pay raises to county employees, “it’s been a long time.” Really? A long time? Just last year, Mayor Burchett put in the budget a 3 – 3.5% for all county employees. Last year doesn’t seem like a long time, but in his world, it must be.
The latest rumor is that he is looking to challenge Register of Deeds Sherry Witt. Interesting that he would seek to challenge the most successful female in the courthouse. He had his eye on the Trustees office and went on television cameras alleging the Congressman threatened him. Now, he has skeered away from that office.
